Saturday saw more than 2 inches of rain in LaGrange, something that became more common this year with the total rainfall almost double last year’s.
As of this morning, LaGrange’s total rainfall stands at 97.5 inches for the year. Last year the rain gauge measured 50.75 inches, which was on par with 2011.
Heavy rainfalls in summer began to tip up the totals with 21.7 inches measured in July alone. December has measured 15.9 inches with less than two days left, already higher than the total 10.9 inches measured for the month last year.
The total for this weekend was 2.2 inches, although the previous weekend measured a sopping 9.25 inches.
LaGrange isn’t the only place getting soaked. Frequent showers and storms have made 2013 Atlanta’s fifth wettest year on record.
Sunday showers brought the year’s total rainfall for the capital city to 66.02 inches.
The only years with more rainfall than 2013 were 2009, 1948, 1935 and 1929.
The record was set in 1948, when 71.45 inches of rain fell.
