SAFA LLC in LaGrange hosts Ride for a Cure that will travel to Roanoke, Ala., Franklin and back to LaGrange Saturday morning to benefit March of Dimes.
Registration is 9 to 10:45 a.m. at SAFA, 1621 W. Lukken Industrial Drive, and the ride begins at 11 a.m. The ride is for motorcycles, Jeeps and classic cars.
Cost is $20 per rider plus $5 per passenger. A souvenir and lunch are included. Proceeds will go to March of Dimes.
The ride will be police-escorted. Riders will leave from SAFA and go to Roanoke Road, heading west across West Point Lake into Alabama, then go north on Ala. Highway 431 to Roanoke, Ala., then east on Ala. Highway 22, which becomes Ga. Highway 34 to Franklin, then south on Ga. Highway 219, which becomes Mooty Bridge Road, to North Greenwood Street. The riders then will commence at Granger Park on Hunnicutt Place.
“SAFA has been involved with supporting the March of Dimes annually for well over 10 years now,” said Viedra Sullivan, training coordinator for SAFA LLC. “We believe that support in efforts to improve the quality life for babies born prematurely or with birth defects is a worthwhile cause. Although we have done many fund-raising activities, this is the first year that we will do a motorcycle ride. We decided to do this ride in response to many team member requests that ride motorcycles who wanted to contribute in their own unique way.”
