Paint the Town Pink, H.O.P.E. for a Day to benefit breast cancer research

Paint the Town Pink will kick off at 9:30 a.m. at Lafayette Square with events including zumba, a performance by the Young Singers and a Stars and Stripes performance by Carolyn Evans with raffle drawings and merchandise to be sold with proceeds to benefit breast cancer research. West Georgia Health, the West Central Georgia Cancer Coalition and District 4 Public Health will offer free clinical breast exams, vouchers for free mammograms, women’s health screening and information on women’s health and wellness. The H.O.P.E. for a Day Walk, a 10-mile event, will kick off at 8 a.m. at the square and last until noon.

Raffle to benefit breast cancer research

Breast Friends For Life is selling raffle tickets for a drawing Saturday at Paint The Town Pink on Lafayette Square to win a quilt handmade by the Golden Sew N Sews of The Active Life. Tickets are $1 each and available at The Active Life, 140 Ragland St., and Parks and Recreation, 1220 Lafayette Parkway, or from a Breast Friends for Life member.

Car show to benefit community projects

The Heard County Lions Club hosts the fourth annual car show and exhibition Oct. 12 on the Franklin square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring old eyeglasses and hearing aids to be recycled. Food available by Loco Rio, plus live music, trophies, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Proceeds benefit Lions Club projects. Pre-registration begins at 9 a.m. Registration is $20 per vehicle. Event to benefit Skye’s Rescue

Country Critters Pet Grooming and Boarding will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit Skye’s Rescue – a non-profit, no-kill shelter – on Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Country Critters, 1734 E. Main St. in Hogansvilleand include contests with trophies and ribbons for first, second and third places in categories for best costume, best pooch smooch, best trick, best doganality (personality) and dog-owner look-alike. Those interested in participating in the contest can enter each category for $5 or enter all five for $20. All proceeds will go directly to the care of the animals.
