Willie George Shepherd
Mr. Willie George Shepherd of 25 Shepherd Drive in Pine Mountain passed away Friday at his home.
Mr. Shepherd, a native of Harris County, was born July 22, 1931, and was the son of the late Abbie Sr. and Mary Emma Shepherd. He was the oldest boy in a family of fifteen consisting of five brothers and nine sisters. He was a retired bus driver for the Troup County School System. In addition he was employed at Callaway Gardens and First United Methodist Church of Pine Mountain. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Charlotte (Chauncey) Ferguson, Columbus, GA; Betty (Alonzo) Hudson, Pine Mountain, GA; three grandsons: Jeremy Ferguson, Brandon Hudson and Justin Hudson; three special nephews: Lavar, Adrian and Joshua Shepherd; five sisters: Claudia (Joseph) Ellison, Dorothy Williams, Elizabeth Hill, Vernetta Shepherd, and Lucille Robinson; three brothers: Abbie Shepherd Jr., Earl (Mary) Shepherd, and Leonard Shepherd; two sisters-in-law: Vivian Shepherd and Janet Shepherd; many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Shepherd; two brothers: Virgil Shepherd and Wilbur Shepherd Sr.; three sisters: Sarah Lee Gates, Lena Shepherd, and Catherine Hill; seven brothers-in-law: John, Willie “Shug”, Clifford “Bud”, Brinson Jr., Bennie “Ben”, Dan Joseph and Herschel “Homer” Malone; and three sisters-in-law: Zola, Virginia and Mary.
The Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 1:00PM at the First United Methodist Church of Pine Mountain. Rev. John Tompkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Shepherd Family Cemetery.
The family will be at their home.
