One juvenile has been arrested and charged after he and a group allegedly burglarized a business Sunday night.

A police report said that Officer Christopher Taylor responded to Dixie Mills on Leman Street at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday for a business alarm going off at the location.

He found the front door to be unlocked, lights on inside and laughter coming from inside the building. As he quietly walked towards the noise, he made contact with at least four juveniles who immediately began running in the opposite direction.

Hall gave several commands for the juveniles to stop but they continued to flee; Hall chased them around the building until they eventually fled out the the front entrance. One of the 13-year-old juveniles stopped at the door and was taken to the police department to be interviewed.

Thefts, Burglaries

• A speaker valued at $500 and a Pioneer CD player valued at $100 was stolen from an unlocked Chevrolet Blazer parked in the 600 block of Whitesville Road.

• A man in the 100 block of Ridgefield Cir. said a pistol valued at $300 was stolen from his bedroom.

Damages

• A woman in the 400 block of N. Greenwood Street said someone threw a rock into the window of her 2000 Lexus RX300 and stole a wallet containing various credit cards. Damage to the window is undetermined.

• A broken window valued at $100 and over $3,000 in damage to an excavator was reported at the old Milliken building located at 1201 Fourth Ave.

Arrests

• Quinderrius Deon Gray, 17, on suspicion of possession of cocaine. According to police, Gray was a passenger in a car that was stopped on Whitesville Street Tuesday morning where officers found a small amount of crack cocaine inside the car in which Gray allegedly claimed possession.

• Juan Carlos Lopez, 23, on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. According to police, an officer saw Lopez, who had a warrant out for his arrest, walking up the steps of the Budget Inn on Hill Street. As the officer approached Lopez, a woman immediately walked into a room. Due to the woman’s suspicious behavior, the officer searched the area around where the two had been walking and found a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana mixed with what looked to be grass. There were several other clear bags inside of it, consistent with the packaging and selling of marijuana, according to a police report. Lopez denied ownership of the bag, however, while en route to the jail, Lopez stated he “didn’t think it was even marijuana inside the bag and that it looked like grass,” though the officer never showed Lopez the bag. This lead the officer to believe the bag belonged to Lopez. A warrant was also obtained for the woman, identified as Lindy Hope Earnest, 31, after she refused to answer the door to the hotel room.
