With their perfect region record still intact, the LaGrange Grangers now turn their attention to the Columbus Blue Devils.
It wasn’t easy, but the Grangers did enough to walk away with a 2-1 Region 5-AAAA soccer victory over Sandy Creek on Tuesday.
The Grangers gave up a goal to a region opponent for the first time this season, but they got a pair of goals from Griffin Bartley to secure the win.
Michael Brackett and Yimmi Posada each had an assist.
Goal keeper Michael Coffman had 10 saves.
LaGrange improved to 5-0 in the region, and it can wrap up the region title with a win over Columbus on Thursday at Callaway Stadium.
The Blue Devils will also bring a perfect region record into the game.
The Grangers (9-2 overall) have a four-game winning streak, and they’ve won nine of 10 since a season-opening loss to East Coweta.
Sandy Creek at least scored a goal, something no other region team had done against LaGrange.
LaGrange didn’t allow a goal in region wins over Alexander, Shaw, Carrollton and Fayette County.
In Tuesday’s girls’ game, the Lady Grangers fell to Sandy Creek 3-1.
Sandy Creek had a 2-1 lead at the half, and it added another goal in the second half.
Reagan Peters scored the lone goal for the Lady Grangers, who’ll take a 2-3 Region 5-AAAA record into Thursday’s game.
