WRENS - It’s do-or-die time for Hogansville.
After opening its stay in the Dixie Youth Baseball 9-10-year-old state tournament with a win on Saturday, Hogansville fell short on Sunday, putting it into the loser’s bracket of the 16-team tournament.
Hogansville will play Mills Creek at 6 p.m. today, with the winner keeping its championship hopes alive, while the loser will be returning home.
For Troup National, meanwhile, it’s been smooth sailing so far.
Troup National has won both of its games, putting it in great position in the tournament.
The tournament is divided into two eight-team brackets, and the winners of each bracket will face off in a best-of-three championship series this week.
The winner of the tournament advances to the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series.
Troup National, which beat Hogansville to win the District 1 tournament, began the tournament with an 11-0 win over Albany International, and it followed that up with a 4-1 victory over Wrens.
Hogansville had no troubles in its opening game, a 22-2 win over Donalsonville, but it lost to Perry 12-2 in its second game.
