Letter: Asbell will bring business acumen to school board

To whom it may concern:

I support John Asbell for the Troup County school board.

There are many reasons that I believe that John is the best candidate for the District 5 seat, but let me give you my top three.

1. I recently worked closely with John Asbell on planning the implementation of THINC Academy. During this process, I found him to be a person who is intelligent, energetic and genuinely concerned about the welfare of our community. I have also been extremely impressed with the success he has created as board chairperson for the THINC Academy.

2. John is employed by Georgia Power and will bring a businessman’s acumen to situations he will encounter on the school board. He has the ability to make accurate judgments about situations and always tries to solve problems through listening to others and developing a consensus around a mutually beneficial and workable solution. He will be mission oriented and goal driven.

3. And perhaps the most important reason for my support of John Asbell, he has four children currently enrolled in the Troup County School System. This puts him in an excellent position to be a school board member since their main purpose is to represent the parents of the school system’s students and to meet the needs of the community at large.

It is for these reasons, and many more, that I intend to cast my ballot for John Asbell. I believe that the Troup County community will be particularly well served by electing John to represent District 5 on the Troup County School Board.

Sincerely,

Roy D. Nichols Jr.
