Let us talk and help young people get through school.

The Kiwanis Club Annual Sporting Clays Tournament For Jack Tate Scholarship Fund is coming up Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10. This event is growing and is a lot of fun for everyone involved. This event will take place at Liberty Hill Sporting Club located at 235 Liberty Hill Road.

For $400 you can buy a team for four people plus cost of shells. If you have a mate that loves to shoot, buy a team. You’re helping kids get through college and your mate will have fun.

Notice I said “mate” because some shooters are women and they are good at it.

The namesake for this scholarship fund, Jack Tate, is a Georgia Tech graduate that knows his days there gave him the opportunity to run a very successful business here with his sweet wife, Sandra, and his son, Patrick, that runs Polk Sheet Metal now.

Jack has been in charge of the hard work of the scholarships for years. I came up with a scholarship fund for kids that are in their sophomore year through master’s program that are working and going to school.

You do not have to have all A’s to get this. It is based on several things, one is working while you’re going to school.

We need kids to apply and we need people to buy a team. If you do not want to buy a team, you can donate money and it goes to a great cause, or you can buy a sign that will be posted at one of the stations for $200 with your advertisement on it.

Everyone can afford to do something. This is a great cause and we need your help.

Perspective:

“To be 70 years young is sometimes far more cheerful and hopeful than to be 40 years old.” — Oliver Wendell Holmes.
