I am writing about the meeting Troup County commissioners had pertaining to salary increases.
I think it is a foolish move to pay $50,000 to $100,000 to do a survey of other counties to see what their pay scales are. Sounds like some people have already been talking to some of the counties to see what they are paying.
As having worked in human resources before, I know for a fact that the human resource manager that is already being paid a salary by Troup County can contact the human resources manager in each county to see what the pay scales are.
Why do we need to pay an outside service to do when we are paying a human resources manager that should know how to do this?
That $50,000 to $100,000 would go a good way on paying the rate in pay increases while allowing the human resource manager to earn their pay.
Example: 2,080 hours in 52 years at $2 per hour increase equals $4,160 for one employee; $4,160 per employee times 10 employees equals $41,600. This example shows that $50,000 would pay the first year of increase.
