Letter: A spectacular show

Being faithful and loyal, I attended the Nov. 7 concert of the Sons of Lafayette. I was in for a great surprise.

The Sons had as their guests the Paine College Chamber Singers. These earnest young black students seemed to raise their voices heavenward carrying us there as well. R. Wayne Goodson, a professor at Paine College in Augusta, was their director.

This small struggling black college in Augusta has given a magnificent gift to the community. On Saturday night their splendid sound filled the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. Our spirits were blessed by this sacred music and we are very grateful to him and his gifted singers.

It is my hope that they will return to us, perhaps at a larger venue. May God bless and prosper Paine College, Dr. Goodson and his outstanding Chamber Singers.
