The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is hosting an event at the farm of County Commission Chairman Ricky Wolfe.

The event is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 1151 New Hutchinson Mill Road. It will focus on education on an organic farm housing a Riverkeeper classroom on Long Cane Creek, a major tributary that feeds the Chattahoochee River.

“We will explore the farm learning about the importance of clean and plentiful water and organic gardening,” said Jill Sistino of the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. “By taking a tour down by the creek to discuss its history and relationship to the farm, visitors can also participate in the water monitoring. We will then proceed down to the organic garden for a walk with gardener Ricky Wolfe as he explains his garden, his processes for becoming organic and how he is using rainwater to keep the plants thriving. The program will end with organic refreshments down by the garden watching the sun go down on this lovely spot.”

Event is hosted by Chattahoochee Riverkeeper in partnership with Wolfe and the local chapter of the Sierra Club. There is no charge for participation, but reservations are required.

Participants were asked to wear comfortable clothing for walking in the fields and creek if they chose. To reserve a space or group, email jsistino@chattahoocheeriverkeeper.org.
