For those who are tired of looking at the mudflats, there’s more time to complain to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about West Point Lake.
The corps has extended the comment period for the update of the water control manuals until Jan. 14. The manuals dictate the operation of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint basin, which includes West Point Lake.
The “scoping,” or public comment process, had been reopened after a legal ruling that Lake Lanier may be used for water supply for metro Atlanta. The original deadline for new comments had been Wednesday.
“We had scoping periods in 2008 and 2009 when we first began the manual update process,” said Pat Robbins, corps spokesman. “Any comments previously submitted will be reviewed and addressed in the current re-scoping so comments previously provided do not need to be resubmitted.”
Individuals should submit scoping comments by Jan. 14, 2013, using one of three methods:
•Submit comments online at www.sam.usace.army.mil
•Email comments to firstname.lastname@example.org
•Mail comments to Tetra Tech, Attention: ACF-WCM, 61 Saint Joseph Street, Ste 550, Mobile, AL 36602-3521.
