A LaGrange man was arrested on suspected kidnapping charges, after police responded to a domestic dispute the in the 100 block of Union Street at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report. The victim told police that her boyfriend, Eddie Huguley, 40 of LaGrange, had left the scene prior to their arrival. After further investigation, officers learned that the couple had been arguing all night and that she went to the residence on Union Street to avoid confrontation. According to the report, Huguley located her at the residence and demanded that she leave with him. After refusing several times, Huguley grabbed the victim by her ankles and pulled her down a set of stairs in front of the house and attempted to drag her out of the yard, according to a police report. The victim was able to kick herself free from his grasp, but he proceeded to kick her several times in the back and rib area. The victim refused medical treatment and the suspect was located a few minutes later on an adjacent street.Huguley was arrested and charged with suspected kidnapping and battery.
Robbery, Aggravated assault
LaGrange Police responded to a report of a robbery in the 100 block Hamilton Road Friday evening. Officers spoke with the victim, who said that he and his live in girlfriend were sitting inside their residence when an unknown black male entered their front door, according to a police report. The victim stated that the unknown male asked him for some alcohol. The victim reported that when he told the suspect that he did not have any alcohol, the suspect stood up and struck him several times in the head with his elbow and then violently grabbed his wallet out of his pants pocket. The wallet contained the victim’s personal identification, as well as an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was transported to West Georgia Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released.
A man reported a robbery in the area of Revis Street near Daniel Street Sunday evening. The victim stated he was in the area of Revis Street when he was approached by Quintarus Moss, 22, of LaGrange. The victim stated the two began to have a verbal altercation, when Moss struck him, causing substantial swelling to the left side of his face. After the victim fell to the ground, Moss went into his pants pocket and removed an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot, according to a police report. Moss was later located and arrested on charges of alleged burglary and aggravated assault.
Battery
Four juveniles were arrested on suspected battery charges, after an incident on Handley Street Saturday night. No further information was available at press time.
Burglaries
A man reported a burglary Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of Belk Street, after noticing someone entered his residence through the rear door. Items stolen include a 46-inch RCA HDTV flat screen television, an XBox 360 game console, a Sony PlayStation 2, and more than 20 video games. The total estimated value of items stolen is approximately $3,000.
A man reported a burglary Saturday at his father’s residence in the 700 block of Ridgecrest Road. The victim stated the suspects entered through the kitchen window and exited through the rear door after stealing several firearms from the home. Items stolen include an antique Stevens .22-caliber rifle made in 1847, a Stevens 410 shotgun, and a Ranger .22- caliber single-shot rifle. The victim suspects a juvenile who has been helping him cut grass may have taken the firearms. Police are investigating the incident.
A man reported a burglary Saturday night in the 200 block of Creekside Drive, after returning to the residence and noticing the light was on in the master bedroom. He stated he also found a vase an artwork sitting on the couch and a statue on the ground. Items stolen include a PlayStation 3 game console and 20 Polo shirts. Police are investigating the incident.
Thefts
A woman was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing from Fred’s store, located at 299 Commerce Avenue. She was allegedly seen putting two visors, valued at $3 each, and a curling iron, valued at $18, into her purse before purchasing some items and exiting the store. She set off the security alarm but continued toward her vehicle. Police located the suspect at her home, where she was admitted she does not know why she steals. She was arrested for shoplifting.
A woman was arrested Friday for allegedly shoplifting after taking a bottle of pain reliever from Fred’s, located at 299 Commerce Avenue. An employee advised police that the woman exited the store with another customer and set off the security alarm. Upon checking her purse, the employee said she found a bottle of 100-count pain reliever, valued at $5.
Two men were arrested Friday for attempting to steal headphones from Walmart, located at 803 Franklin Road. The suspects allegedly each picked up a pair of white JVC headphones, valued at around $15, and continued to walk around the store. Police arrived and the suspects were arrested on charges of alleged shoplifting.
A man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly stole lotion from the Dollar General, located at 1811 Vernon Road.
Drug possession
Two people were arrested on charges of alleged marijuana possession, after police stopped their vehicle in the 100 block of Commerce Avenue. The pair also had open containers of alcohol, according to a police report.
Accident
Two people were injured in a car accident near Hamilton Road Saturday afternoon. Zanthia Cameron, 30 of LaGrange, turned left from Lukken Industrial Road onto Hamilton Road, hitting the side of the 1996 Mazda Protege driven by John Cipolla, 55 of LaGrange. The impact caused Cipolla’s car to cross the median and hit the vehicle driven by Martha Dye, 63 of Pine Mountain. John Cipolla and a passenger, Marianna Cipolla, 60, were taken to West Georgia Medical Center where they were treated for cuts, bruises and a broken collarbone. Cameron was also taken to WGMC.
