Mrs. Mamie Catherine Hubbard Davidson, 91, formerly of 419 Daniel Street, passed Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale, Ga.

Mrs. Davidson was the fifth child, and only girl, of eight children born to the late Bill and Annie Lovelace Hubbard. She lived a long and productive life as a loving wife of 54 years to the late Havard Davidson and an adoring and supportive mother of six children.

She started her Christian life at an early age at the Union Springs United Methodist Church. At her death she was the oldest living member. For many years she served as a Class Leader, Youth Coordinator, Church Secretary, Chairperson of the PPR and in many other roles.

Mamie attended the Union Springs Elementary School where she taught for three years after graduating from East Depot High School in 1942. She was a long-time member of the Rochelle Federated Club.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by twin sons: Acie and Haywood Davidson; and her seven brothers: John Wesley, Lonnie, Rev. Walter, Isaac, Willie B., Wiley and Henry Hubbard.

Cherishing memories of her life’s long journey are her four loving daughters: Willie Eunice (David) Eaton, Franklinton, NC; Dorothy Davidson Owens (Freddie), Jonesboro, GA; Kamilah (Gladys) Karim-Tipton, Farmington, MI; Valerie Davidson-Padgett, College Park, GA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby Hubbard and Mary Alice Hubbard, LaGrange, GA; Lobelia Hubbard, Woodbridge, VA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 11:30AM at the New Community Church on South Davis Road. Rev. Sequita Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 and will assemble on Saturday at 10:30AM at the home of Mary Alice Hubbard at 599 Snelson Street.
