Two armed men robbed two sets of people near Sewon, with one victim fighting a robber, who beat him with a pistol before one of the robbers fired a shot.
In one of the incidents, two men were in the parking lot of Sewon at 1000 Sewon Boulevard off Pegasus Parkway when they told officers that the two masked robbers approached them and said “give it up, give it up,” according to a report. One of the victims told the robbers they didn’t have anything and the armed men fled in a silver Nissan Altima.
Nearby, a man was helping pull a friend’s vehicle from a ditch on Sewon Boulevard when the robbers, dressed in dark clothing, pulled behind them. The two robbers got out of their vehicle and asked for a cigarette. The victims said they didn’t smoke, and one of the robbers pulled out a bag of suspected marijuana and asked if they wanted to buy some, but the victims declined.
When one of the victims then answered his cell phone, the robbers pulled out guns, one putting his pistol to the victim’s head and saying “it’s payday, give it up,” according to a report. They ordered the victims to the ground and took the man’s cell phone, but “when the opportunity presented itself,” according to a report, the man said he grabbed one of the robbers, causing him to drop the pistol.
The victim scuffled with the robber and was struck in the back of the head by a pistol butt several times before a shot was fired into the ground near the victim. The victims then fled to Sewon to seek help.
The victim who scuffled with the robber was treated at West Georgia Medical Center for injuries to the back of his head. Police were investigating.
