Mrs. Mary Kathryn Reason, age 88, of LaGrange, died on October 29, 2012 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Reason was born on March 10, 1924 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Barnie Augustus and Carrie Lou Johnston Irvin. She was employed by the Sears & Roebuck Company for over twenty years and was also a private seamstress. Mrs. Reason was a member of the Dunson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the Sunbeams. Her husband, Brother Oliver Clifford Reason, Jr. was a pastor at many churches in this area, and she played an important role as a minister’s wife for over sixty years. In addition to her parents, her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mary Kathryn Reason is survived by her sons, Robert Wayne Reason and his wife Deidre of LaGrange, Cliff J. Reason of Newport News, Virginia, and David M. Reason of Morristown, Tenn; daughter, Kathryn Y. Reason McCurry and her husband Mike of LaGrange; grandchildren, Michael Reason, Cindy Montana (Artie), Kelly Morgan (Jimmy), Adam McCurry (Lyndsey), Eric Reason (Jen) and Wesley Reason; 8 great grandchildren; sister in law, Alice Worley of LaGrange; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Doug Bingham officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Shadowlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
