There was a taste of fall in the air this morning. The mercury stood at 55 degrees at 6 a.m. at LaGrange-Callaway Airport, breaking the record of 56 set in 1964.

More-seasonable temperatures are in the forecast for the rest of the week with highs in the mid- to upper 80s and lows in the mid- to upper 60s. There’s a chance of rain Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Rain chances go up to 50 and 50 percent on Saturday and Sunday.

Normal extremes for this time of year are 88 and 66.
