The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony for Mary Jo Trask’s home-based business, Tastefully Simple, took place in front of the chamber on Friday.

Trask has been working with her business for the past year and was excited to become the newest member of the chamber.

“I became an independent consultant for Tastefully Simple a year ago this past July,” Trask said. The products are prepared foods that are simple to make. Nothing can go into the catalog that has more than two ingredients that need to be added, and water counts as one. The goal is to help people to prepare meals and snacks easily. I wanted to join the chamber because I noticed that they were doing events that I could be part of that would promote my business, it is money well spent,” she said.

Several people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony took place in front of the Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Page Estes welcomed Trask as a new member of the chamber and then called on members from LaGrange City Council, Downtown LaGrange Development Authority and other chamber members to also welcome Trask.

Estes explained why green and gold was used for the colors of the ribbons.

“The colors of the ribbon are symbolic. The green is for incoming money and the gold is for the golden opportunity that you have to build relationships and to network with the other chamber members,” she said. Estes extended her best wishes to Trask and then started the count to three for the actual cutting of the ribbon. Trask’s cutting of the ribbon was followed by cheers and more congratulatory remarks.
