Miss Troup County and Miss Troup Teen Scholarship Pageants will now include 19 counties. The pageants are scheduled to take place on Jan. 19, 2013 at the Troup High School Fine Arts Auditorium.
The pageants have been expanded to include additional counties to give more young ladies the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Troup County and Miss Troup Teen. The counties that are now included in these pageants are Troup, Haralson, Douglas, Fulton, Carroll, Clayton, Heard, Coweta, Fayette, Meriwether, Harris, Talbot, Muscogee, Chattahoochee, Marion, Stewart, Webster, Sumter and Dougherty. Individuals who live, work, or attend school in these counties are eligible to compete in the 38th annual Miss Troup County or the 18th annual Miss Troup Teen Scholarship Pageant.
“This is an excellent opportunity for young women in the surrounding counties to advance their academic careers in order to prepare for the professions of their choice and to make a difference in their communities, maybe even the nation. Whether they win or not, they always benefit from the experience, which challenges them to hone their talents and skills,” said Judy Neighbors, executive director of the scholarship program.
Anyone who is interested in being in either one of these pageants must attend a 2:00 p.m. informational meeting on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the LaGrange/Troup County Chamber of Commerce. All Miss Troup Teen candidates are required to attend this meeting. The only individuals who are excused from attending this meeting are the ones who have competed in a Miss America Pageant previously and have their application completed and turned by the Nov. 4th date.
