Facing David Emanuel Academy in a key GISA Region 1-A game, the Wildcats held on for a 12-6 victory.
The Wildcats (5-5 overall) improved to 4-1 in region play, keeping them in the hunt for a home game in the first round of the state playoffs.
Dawson Street would finish no lower than second in the region with a win over Curtis Baptist Friday night.
If the Wildcats lose that game, they’ll be the third seed and will go on the road for the first round.
The Wildcats were up 6-0 at the half, with Durrell Vaughn doing the honors with a 12-yard touchdown run.
David Emanuel responded by taking the opening kickoff of the second half and driving for the tying touchdown.
The Wildcats blocked the extra-point attempt to keep the game tied at 6-6.
David Emanuel tried to catch Dawson Street off guard by attempting an onside kick, but it was unsuccessful, and the Wildcats had the ball just 45 yards from the end zone.
Shaquille Tiggs capped the short drive with a 22-yard touchdown run, and the Wildcats made the 12-6 lead stand up.
Tiggs finished with 121 yards on 12 carries, and Vaughn had 101 yards on 16 attempts.
