The 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration sponsored by the First Zion/Bethesda Outreach Ministries is Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint James CME Church. This year’s program is intended to keep King’s dream alive through a celebration of faith, love and hope, organizers said.
“People of all color and faith are invited to join us in this celebration,” Bishop R. L. Darden, director of First Zion/Bethesda Outreach Ministries said. “Our guest speaker for this great occasion will be Rev. Keith Moore. We are also serving a special dinner right after the service; all are welcome.”
The ministires will also be honoring community members who continue to make a difference through their service to the residents of LaGrange and surrounding areas. LaGrange City Council member W. T. Edmondson, LaGrange Public Safety Chief Lou Dekmar, Hogansville Police Chief Moses Ector and Lanett, Ala., Mayor Oscar Crawley will be honored.
In addition, a tribute will be given to honor the memory of Mary Boykin in celebration of her contributions to the community during her lifetime.
“We have to thank the Community Bank and Trust for being the major sponsor of this event,” Darden said. “They are helping us keep Dr. King’s dream alive in the city of LaGrange.”

What was Dr King's Dream exactly? That a majority of black children are born out of wedlock, or perhaps the absurb high percentage of blacks that receive some form of government assistance. The problems in the black community are only the fault of the black community. No one is holding you back but yourself, and no amount of government intervention will change that. Keep in mind that as long as you depend on someone else to live you will never rise to the level Dr. King envisioned
What exactly is my community anyways? Are you making the assumption that I am white?
To correct the facts since you gave none, a higher percentage of abortions are performed on African Americans. Blacks who make up about 14% of the poulation account for 40.2% of abortions. Blacks also account for the highest by population recipients for Welfare at 39.8%

The problem with the whole situation is anytime it is brought up for discussion the race card is always thrown out at any sign of honest critisim of the African American Community. Let me ask you one question. Why has the Asian community been so successful and productive in the US with all they have been through in the US. Self-reliance.
