The upcoming LaGrange Art Museum fall fundraiser, Art for Art’s Sake, will offer participants the opportunity to buy art and win a trip to a Tuscan villa.
The Nov. 2 event will be held at 5656 Hamilton Road, the private residence of Barry and Juliette Fuller. The unique home was originally owned by Carl Tait, a well-known Milliken Corporation textile designer.
“It’s a great house,” said Janis Kish, chair of events for the museum board of directors. “… Only people who knew Carl have seen it before, so it’s a great opportunity for people to see it.”
More than 200 artists were contacted with more than 128 committing to contribute work for the fundraiser, and the money raised will be split between the artists and museum. Art pieces expected to be available for sale include paintings, sculptures, garden accessories, pottery and porcelain.
A local group will play jazz music and food and drinks will be available. Those who want to get an early start can pay $100 each for an early start at the art sale at 5:30 p.m. The main event begins at 6:30 p.m. and general admission is $75 per person.
“We’re trying to accommodate everybody,” Kish said.
The finale of the event is 8:30 p.m., when an auction will be held for a seven-day trip to a Southern Tuscan villa for four people. The villa is located an hour and a half from Rome, Italy.
Parking for the event will be at Troup High School on Hamilton Road at Interstate 85. Participants will be shuttled to the home, which is halfway between LaGrange and Pine Mountain.
