Murder case ends with mistrial
by Jennifer Shrader
Staff writer

The judge declared a mistrial late Thursday in the murder case against Kevin James Simon Jr. of Newnan and Renordo McKiver of Atlanta, charged in the April 29 shooting death of Ronald Rashun “Ray Ray” Cameron, 24, at the American Legion Hall in Hogansville.

Jurors deliberated beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday after receiving instructions until nearly 10 p.m., remaining deadlocked on all three charges: felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a handgun in the commission of a crime.

The defendants remain in Troup County Jail, having been denied bond. A second trial could come as early as January or February.
