Teamwork gains national recognition
by Barbara Henigin

Tara Hutchens and Cathy Winslow, kitchen designers for Splash Kitchens and Bath Design Gallery, were featured in the 14th Annual Design Awards issue of Signature Kitchens & Baths magazine.

The magazine’s two page color spread of the kitchen that Winslow and Hutchens designed was a stunning example of the caliber of work that the downtown LaGrange-based company offers their customers.

The featured project was designed by the Splash design team for local homeowners who needed a functional space to accommodate their grown children and extended family. The design team also had to plan the new kitchen to include the numerous large windows that provided the serene views of a private lake while still providing adequate storage space. Hutchens and Winslow took full advantage of the 16 by 18 foot space and delivered a kitchen that the homeowners were extremely pleased with.

Hutchens and Winslow work as a team complimenting each other’s talents and, at times, finishing each other’s sentences. By mutual consent Hutchens is described as being the technical part of the team while Winslow is the one that pays attention to color and balance.

“I take care more of the engineering side of the design. If I am worried about the color and how it looks, then I am going to miss on the math. Proportion is what is beautiful in the end but there is a lot of math behind it,” said Hutchens.

The Splash Kitchen and Bath showroom is filled with beautiful displays that highlight many different styles of cabinets, fixtures, back-splashes and accessories. “We offer a great selection of accessories at reasonable prices, taste level does not denote a price tag. If you have great taste, a $98 painting can look like a masterpiece in the right setting, we are here to help you,” said Winslow.

“Thought, preparation and pre-planning are the key elements to our success, no matter the budget the same amount of effort goes into each project,” said Hutchens.

Both Hutchens and Winslow agreed that they thoroughly enjoy not only meeting the customers’ expectations but exceeding them.

Splash Kitchens and Baths was founded in 2008 and is located in the historic Coke Cola Building in downtown LaGrange. The company has seven employees, including three designers, and is highly regarded in the kitchen and bath industry. The company offers a full range of of design and construction services and sales of home furnishings, accessories, lamps and lighting, rugs, art, gifts, gourmet and much more.

Signature Kitchen & Bath magazine is a high-end, quarterly publication that is available nationwide on newsstands, in bookstores and at select home-improvement stores. The magazine features photographs and diagrams of America’s most accomplished kitchen and bath designers, along with informative features, industry trends, new products and designer recommendations.
