Primary elections 2012 - 10 p.m. update

Election update - 10 p.m.

The unofficial count with all precincts reporting shows that the sheriff’s, County Commission District 3 and Board of Education District 3 races will go into a runoff. Meanwhile, a Board of Education incumbent has been unseated.

In the sheriff’s race, incumbent Donny Turner will face James Woodruff in a runoff for the Republican ballot. Woodruff more votes than Turner in the race.

In the County Commission race, Tripp Foster and Ellen Gilmore will be in a runoff to secure the Republican candidacy for District 3. Each took less than 25 percent of the crowded Republican ticket.

In the Board of Education, candidate Dariel Daniel and incumbent Sheila Rowe will go into a runoff to determine the District 3 seat.

Also in the Board of Education, board member John Darden lost to challenger Ashley Adams by less than 200 votes. Darden has served on the board for 18 years.

I think after reading GA Code 21-2-74 it states that if the Probate Judge is opposed that someone else should run the election. I might be wrong but it looks that way to me.
