Troup schools named by state for AP honors
State School Superintendent John Barge recently named the 2013 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools, and Troup County high schools were among the 424 recognized. Callaway High School received recognition as a Georgia 2013 AP Challenge School, and LaGrange High School received recognition as an AP STEM Achievement School. Recent rains have caused West Point Lake to rise by a foot, after a winter where much of the lake was mudflat more than water. Chief Lou Dekmar of the LaGrange Police Department gave the 2012 LPD’s annual departments of public safety report to council Tuesday evening. Though most areas have improved from the previous year, Dekmar said that there could be are some areas that could be improved.
