LaGrange High’s Andrew Coggins was competing in the finals of the 800-meter run at the state track meet on Saturday in Jefferson, and for the first of two laps of the race, he was in the middle of the pack.

Bowie takes fifth at state Sam Bowie’s state meet got off to a disappointing start.
Competing in the 1,600-meter run on Thursday, the LaGrange High freshman got caught in the pack, and he was unable to break out on the way to a 10th-place finish in the 16-person field.
Bowie crossed the finish line more than 10 seconds behind the race winner.
