Head-on wreck results in death of county employee

A Troup County Parks and Recreation Department employee was killed today in a head-on wreck between a tractor-trailer truck and a pickup in the 2000 block of South Davis Road.Sherrill Allen Cadwell, 58, of LaGrange, was pronounced dead at the scene.According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Joel Puckett, Cadwell, was driving a Troup County Parks and Recreation pickup west toward Whitesville Road when he swerved into the oncoming lane, colliding with a trailer tractor from Vaughn Xpress traveling east toward Hamilton Road.Puckett said the cause of the wreck is still being determined.Puckett said an autopsy will be conducted at a later time to determine Cadwell’s condition at the time of the wreck.
