COLUMBUS – The LaGrange Grangers capped a perfect week with a 17-11 road win over the Shaw Raiders on Friday.

The Grangers finished the week with a 3-0 record that included a big road win over Columbus on Tuesday, and they improved their Region 1-AAAAA record to 7-5.

Since opening their region schedule with a 1-4 record, the Grangers have won six of their past seven region games, and they’re holding on to the fourth spot.

Also on Friday, Troup routed Sandy Creek 13-1 to complete a 3-0 week.

The Tigers (15-5 overall) remained in first place in Region 5-AAAA with an 8-1 record, and they’re two games ahead of second-place Whitewater.

Callaway lost the first game of a three-game series against Pepperell on Tuesday, but it bounced back to sweep a doubleheader on Friday on the road.

Callaway held on to win the first game 3-2 before blowing out Pepperell 12-0 in the second game.

For LaGrange, it was all about offense in Friday’s game.

The Grangers scored three runs in the top of the first inning, and they continued to pour it on to outscore the home-standing Raiders.

Jake Farrar had a big game for the Grangers with three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs.

Jake Howard added two hits and two RBIs, and he scored a pair of runs.

Larkin Easterwood and Willis Kemp each had a hit and two RBIs, and leadoff hitter David Sweat walked twice, was hit by a pitch once, and scored two runs.

Ben Anderson walked twice, scored two runs and had an RBI, Matt Anderson had a hit and two walks, and Cole Freeman had a hit.

For Troup, sophomore shortstop Ryan Bliss was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and he hit a home run for the second straight game.

Bo Halcomb had a double, a triple, and two RBIs, and Winston Turner had two hits and an RBI.

Miles Cameron, Colby Williams, Kinley Bridwell and Ken Truitt each had two hits, Tavarous Truitt drove in a run, and Camren Russell came off the bench and had a hit.

Halcomb started and pitched the first four innings, and he gave up just two hits and one run.

Williams piched a scoreless fifth inning to finish it.

For Callaway, Josh Hanson pitched a complete-game one-hitter in the 3-2 win over Pepperell.

Hunter Rollins had an RBI single in the third inning, and Ben Griffin had a two-run base hit in the fourth inning.

In the second game, which was limited to five innings because of the run rule, Rollins got the complete-game win.

Rollins had two hits and three RBIs, and Cortney Laye had two hits and three RBIs.
