LAGRANGE – The Lafayette Christian School Cougars lost an overtime heart-breaker to Central Christian on Friday at home.

In a wild, back-and-forth game, it was Central Christian winning 58-56 in the region opener for both teams.

Central Christian had the ball first in overtime, and a touchdown and a two-point conversion gave it a 58-50 lead.

Lafayette Christian scored a touchdown of its own, but the two-point attempt was unsuccessful, and Central Christian held on for the two-point win.

The Cougars had a chance to win it late in regulation.

After a Jacob Lueken interception, the Cougars had the ball with less than a minute left, and they made it to the 30-yard line with time for one more play.

The Cougars attempted a 48-yard field goal, and Morgan Channell’s attempt was just short, and it was on to overtime.
