Their playoff hopes are alive and well.

After dropping their first region game this season, the Lafayette Christian School Cougars knew they likely needed to win their final two region games to make the state playoffs.

The Cougars are halfway there.

Facing home-standing CrossPointe Christian on Friday, Lafayette Christian secured a 34-22 victory to even its region record at 1-1.

The Cougars don’t play this week.

They’ll return to the field on Oct. 23 to host Holy Ground, and if they win that game, they’ll be in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state playoffs.

Jemi Reed had a big night for the Cougars in Friday’s win.

He not only returned a kickoff return about 65 yards for a touchdown, but he also had an 83-yard interception return.

Antavious Sands had touchdown runs of 12 and five yards, and Eli Shepherd also had a scoring run.

After the game against Holy Ground, Lafayette Christian will finish the regular season at Ballard Christian on Nov. 6.
