FAYETTEVILLE – The wait continues.

The Troup Tigers headed to Fayette County on Friday hoping to get their first win of the season, but it didn’t happen.

In a wild, back-and-forth game, Fayette County made a field goal with five seconds remaining in the game to take a two-point lead.

Troup’s only hope was to return the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, and when that didn’t happen, it was Fayette County walking away with the 37-35 victory.

After falling behind 34-28, Troup rallied for the go-ahead touchdown with about three minutes remaining on a long touchdown run by Mess Bonner.

Fayette County was able to drive down the field and get in position for a potential game-winning field goal.

After a timeout, the kick sailed throughout the uprights, sending Troup to a heart-breaking loss.

Troup had its best offensive game of the season with five touchdowns, but it wasn’t quite enough.

Bonner scored four touchdowns for Troup, and Camren Russell caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Dexter Shealey.

Troup (0-9) will finish its season with a road game against Whitewater on Friday.
