LAGRANGE – Because of the threat of a winter storm, the basketball games involving Callaway, Troup and Lafayette Christian were postponed Friday night.

LaGrange High’s games at Hardaway, and LaGrange Academy’s home games against Flint River went on as scheduled.

Troup was supposed to host Sandy Creek, Callaway was scheduled to visit Cedartown, and Lafayette Christian was going to play Grace Academy.

Troup and Sandy Creek will instead play on Feb. 1, Callaway and Cedartown will make up their games on Jan. 30, and Lafayette Christian and Grace Academy will play on Tuesday.

Callaway’s home games against Valley today will be played, with the girls’ game starting at 3:30 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.

It will be the second meeting this season between Callaway and Valley.

In the earlier boys’ game, Callaway had to hold on late to beat Valley 63-59, with Braylon Sanders scoring 21 points.

In the girls’ game, Valley beat Callaway 55-37, with Alexus Scott scoring 12 points for the losing team.

Callaway’s teams return to Region 5-AAA play on Tuesday with home games against Central-Carroll, and they’ll host Haralson County on Friday before the makeup games against Cedartown next Saturday.

The Cavaliers (10-3 overall) are 5-0 at the halfway point of their region schedule, while the Lady Cavaliers (5-8 overall) are in second place in the region with a 3-2 record.

Troup’s teams will return to the court on Tuesday for road games against Woodward Academy, and they’ll be back home on Friday to play Whitewater.

The Tigers (6-10) improved to 1-4 in Region 5-AAAA with Tuesday’s 66-38 home win over Carrollton, and the Lady Tigers (7-10) are also 1-4 in the region.

LaGrange High, after Friday’s road games against Hardaway, will be at home today against Columbus High, with the girls’ game starting at 3 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.

The winter weather also affected the LaGrange College basketball teams, who were supposed to be in North Carolina today to play Greensboro College.

Those games will instead be played on Monday.

LaGrange College’s games at Methodist (N.C.) on Sunday will go on as scheduled.

LaGrange College’s women’s team (10-5 overall) will be looking to improve on its 4-2 USA South record, while the men’s team (13-3 overall) will carry a 4-1 conference record into Sunday’s game.
