Gunmen rob pedestrians

A man and a woman were robbed while walking on North Greenwood Street about 3 this morning.

The pair told police that two men asked for a cigarette, then brandished a semiautomatic pistol and threatened to shoot if the victims did not comply.

The robbers took a wallet, cell phone and purse, and then fled on foot. The woman told police that pieces of bubble gum fell from her purse as the men fled.

Woman punched in face

The cartilage of a woman’s nose was broken after she was punched in the face several times by an intruder Wednesday morning.

The woman told police she was sleeping at her residence when she was woken up by her child’s father punching her.

The woman escaped and called police from a neighbor’s house, but officers could not find the man.

Thefts, burglaries

— A bluetooth headset and $40 were stolen from a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the 100 block of Handley Street.

— Three debit cards, two checkbooks, $10 and a wallet were stolen from a 2004 Chrysler Concorde in the 200 block of Cleveland Drive.

— A CD player valued at $100 was stolen from a 1991 Mazda 626 in the 600 block of Borton Street.

— A cell phone was stolen after its owner set it down in the restroom at Long Cane Middle School at 326 Long Cane Road.

— A wallet was stolen from a residence in the 2300 block of New Hutchinson Mill Road.

Vandalism

— The tire of a 2007 GMC Envoy in the 1200 block of New Franklin Road was cut. The owner reported hearing a hissing sound after two women walked near the vehicle.

— Two trucks in the 1400 block of Hamilton Road were damaged by bricks. Police said 1989 Chevrolet Cheyenne had its windshield shattered, and a 2006 Nissan Frontier was scratched. Damage was estimated at $400.

— It is the policy of LaGrange Daily News to print the names of people charged with felonies.
