Mr. Bonner was born April 20, 1936, in Chambers County, Alabama, He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Bonner, his parents, Robert and Louise Bonner, and a sister, Dorothy Windsor. He was a loving husband, daddy and ‘Granddaddy’. During Floyd’s life, he enjoyed gardening, NASCAR, camping, being outdoors, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He spent many years in the timber business and was a retired truck driver from West Point Pepperell, where he received numerous safe driving awards.
Floyd will be remembered by family and friends as a strong and courageous man. Family members that will cherish his memory are: three daughters, Kathy Brusch of Newnan, Rita Karr (Troy) and Karen Tucker (Ricky) all of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Melissa Hughes (Jay), Kimberly Addy (Davis), Jason Karr (Jessica), Justin Talley (Beth), Lauryn Talley, Bryant Tucker, and Jade Clay (Stephen); nine great-grandchildren, Calli, Peyton, and Ava Hughes, Javid Coleman, Dawson Talley, Baleigh, Beau and Bryton Clay, and Griffin Karr. Floyd is also survived by one brother, Harold Bonner, of Valley, Alabama and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Officiating will be Troy Karr and Pastor Mike Hornsby. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens with Pastor Donnie Benefield officiating.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Rita Karr, at 212 West Lakeview Drive, and will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
