Police: Man drags woman by hair

A man was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a woman by the hair and dragged her from the front to the rear of a residence in the 200 block of Rutland Circle.

Police said James Hall, 36, of Mooty Bridge Road went to the residence, slapped the woman, then dragged her by the hair Sunday morning. Hall also took the woman’s cell phone and slammed it into the ground, breaking it.

Witnesses told police the man was upset because the woman went to a Halloween party without him.

Hall was at the residence when officers arrived. He was charged with kidnapping, battery, third-degree child cruelty and criminal trespass.

Robber tries to steal money

A would-be thief tried to rob a man walking in the 600 block of New Franklin Road.

Police said the man was walking nd counting money Saturday afternoon when another man approached him and demanded the money. The would-be robber pushed the man and kept demanding the money.

The pedestrian fled to a residence and called police. The would-be robber fled before police arrived.

Man faces sodomy charge

A man was arrested after a woman told police she awoke to the man performing sexual acts on her at a residence in the southeastern portion of LaGrange.

The woman said the person was not supposed to be in her home, and she began screaming for him to leave when she awoke Sunday.

Marcus Johnson, 36, of Mona Lane was found nearby when police arrived. He was charged with burglary and aggravated sodomy.

Driver hits telephone pole

A man was arrested after his vehicle struck a telephone phone in the 600 block of Country Club Road, breaking it.

Police said Nolen Patrick Oliver, 20, whose address was unavailable, lost control of a vehicle and hit the pole Friday.

Oliver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor, driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain a lane.

Thief takes pizzas, breadsticks

A pizza delivery person said two pizzas, breadsticks and a carrying bag were stolen from her 1995 Ford Explorer in the 100 block of Mitchell Avenue on Saturday.

Man reports goat’s death

A man said a goat died on his property in the 900 block of Young’s Mill Road on Sunday.

The man told Troup County sheriff deputies the goat was not sick, and appeared healthy before its death. He told deputies he thinks it may have been beaten to death because a large stick was beside the goat.

Deputies said there were no signs the goat was shot, and the stick did not have any hair or blood on it.

Thefts, burglaries

— A thief stole a television from a residence in the 100 block of Wynnwood Drive.

— A 1996 GMC Z71 was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Overbrook Drive.

— A thief stole a golf cart, trailer, generator, chain saw, paint sprayer and two tanks of gas from a barn in the 1400 block of Blue Creek Road.

Vandalism

— Vandals scratched a 2007 Ford F-150 and 2009 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the 100 block of Highland Avenue.

— Vandals cut four tires of a vehicle in the 1100 block of Polk Street.

— It is the policy of LaGrange Daily News to print the names of people charged with felonies.
