A structure fire destroyed a residence in the 2300 block of Mobley Bridge Road around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. The owner of the residence was outside cutting wood and heard a loud “popping” noise and saw the outer part of his kitchen in flames, Troup County Fire Department Capt. Early Harris said. The fire was already in the residence’s attic when fire personnel arrived. Its cause is undetermined.
