Mrs. Mary Joyce Thompson Garner, 81, of LaGrange passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Garner was born November 22, 1930, in Auburn, Alabama, daughter of the late W.C. and Birdie Lee Ragsdale Siggers. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Garner retired from Uniroyal and had been employed by West Point Pepperell. She was an avid lover of animals.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Linda Buttrum, of Heard County, Joann Nixon and her fiancé, Roger Henry and Janet Thompson, all of LaGrange; a son, Tony Thompson, of Heard County; daughter-in-law, Dialene Thompson, of LaGrange; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; sisters, Dean McQuay, of Lexington, KY, Becky Mickey, of LaGrange and Dot Rice, of Woodstock; several nieces and nephews; and a special pet, Polly Ann.

She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Phillip Mason Thompson, Billie Roy Thompson, and Willie Pete Thompson; brothers, Buddy Siggers, Ray Siggers and Darrell Siggers; and a sister, Mae Youngblood.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Randy Gilbert officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be at her home at 521 Hammett Road and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
