Burglaries, theft

A burglary was reported at the Maidee Smith Day Care, located at 607 Union Street, after an employee noticed that the front gate had been opened. She said $70 was missing from a cash drawer inside, according to a police report.

A man said someone stole three pairs of shoes from his home in the 300 block of McClendon Circle. He suspects the footwear, valued at a total of approximately $200, was stolen by two people that were working on his yard, according to a police report.

A Huffer blower was stolen from the backyard of Bethlehem Temple, located at 307 Whiteville Road, after being used to inflate a moonwalk at a weekend celebration, according to a police report. The tool, which was rented, is the property of LaGrange Equipment and Tool Rental, the report said.

A woman reported that someone entered her 1997 Toyota Corolla, which was parked in the 200 block of West Mulberry Street, and stole a CD player, according to a police report.

Dog Running at Large

A police officer reported shooting one of two large dogs after they aggressively approached him in Niles Street Park, according to a police report.

Arrest

A man who accidentally shot himself in the ankle was arrested on alleged charges of reckless conduct. He said he was trying to shoot a squirrel across the street, according to a police report.
