LaGrange Art Museum hosts a Bruce Chesefsky photographs exhibit in the upstairs gallery of the museum, 112 Lafayette Square, until July 31. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

A senior dance is at 7 p.m. at the old Franklin Elementary School gym with a live band. Admission is $4.

Saturday

Market on Main, a farmer’s market, opens for the season on the Main Street parking lot in LaGrange at East Depot Street, next to the Carmike Cinemas. Market hours are 8 to 10 a.m. every Saturday until mid-October. Local farmers will sell fresh produce. www.downtownlagrange.com

The two local Chick-fil-A stores host an 8:15 a.m. 5K race and 8 a.m. family fun run in downtown LaGrange. The race includes chip timing and a USATF certified course. Cost is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Participants also have the chance to win Chick-fil-A food for a year. Registration is open at www.cfaraceseries.com. Proceeds provide scholarships for the WinShape Camp that will be held in LaGrange June 11-15. Registration is 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake in partnership with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct a “hands on” personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Project Management Office from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There is a $25 fee per family on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is necessary and can be done by calling the West Point Project Management Office at 706-645-2937.

The LaGrange High School class of 2002 holds a reunion at Best Western Lafayette Garden Inn, 1613 Lafayette Parkway, at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $40 per person. A free family event is 1 to 3 p.m. at the playground of First Presbyterian Church, 120 Broad St. lhs2002reunion.blogspot.com

The Cochran Gallery on the downtown square hosts an opening to its new exhibit, the Serenbe Photography Show, at 2 p.m. The exhibit is a photography show juried by John Lawrence, Callaway professor of art and design at LaGrange College and will be exhibited through July 15. The gallery is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

The Friends of Hawkes Library in West Point hosts the “Come and Create” summer educational series from 2 to 4 p.m. with Thea McElvy, a local artist, teaching jewelry-making techniques. The seminar is $25 for the general public. Costs of supplies is included. Pre-registration is required by calling 706-645-1549.
