The West Point Police Department and surrounding law enforcement agencies will be holding a hamburger sack lunch sale, Thursday in the Langley Motor’s Parking lot located on Ga. 29 at the Georgia/Alabama state line. The sack lunch costs $5, with all proceeds going to assist Officer Marcus Daniel and his family.

Sack lunches may be picked up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For tickets please contact Detective Teddy Morris at 706-645-3525; Sack lunches also will be available for purchase at the benefit.

Officer Daniel is a veteran of the United States Army and continued his service for his country in the Army Reserve until his injury. During his service with the Army Reserve he was employed with the Valley Police Department until March 14, 2011, where he joined the ranks of the West Point Police Department. On March 6, Officer Daniel was involved in a serious collision on Interstate 85, in which he suffered major injuries. During his service to the communities in the West Point area, Officer Daniel presented himself as a role model to the youth as well as the officers and the citizens of West Point.

Due to the accident and his injuries, Officer Daniel has suffered a drastic loss of income and finances coming into his household. The police department is asking for any person or business to assist in this cause to raise money for Officer Daniel and his family. Officer Daniel has always been there for the law enforcement family as well as the communities in which he has served honorably. It is time for his law enforcement family and the community to come to his aid, to show moral and financial support of a suffering brother. Let this family know that Officer Marcus Daniel’s dedicated service has not been unnoticed and is appreciated. Donations can be made payable to Marcus Daniel and mailed to the West Point Police Department, c/o Detective Teddy Morris, P.O Box 487, West Point GA, 31833. For more information please call 706-645-3525.
