Robbery

Police were investigating a robbery at La Colombiana, 306 B Cherry St., Saturday night. A man told police that he was approached by an unknown suspect, who choked him and stole his cell phone.

Burglaries, theft

A 32-inch flat-screen television, valued at $250, was reported stolen after a burglary in the 100 block of Wesley Way Saturday.

Drug Arrests

A man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after police pulled him over for weaving on Whitesville Street. Raul Canino, 40, was asked to complete a field sobriety test and failed, according to a report. Police then searched the suspect and found suspected methamphetamine in his pocket. Canino was charged of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, DUI of drugs, DUI of alcohol and following too closely.

Two people were arrested when police arrived at an apartment in the 300 block of Hartwell Avenue to investigate possible drug activity. Officers reported a strong smell of marijuana and found a suspected blunt of the substance in a laundry basket. Fabian Hurston, 22, and Tiana Brown, whose age was unknown, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Two men were arrested on alleged drug charges after being stopped by police at a traffic safety checkpoint on Hogansville Road Sunday. Leon Jackson, 21, was charged with felony marijuana possession with the intent to distribute. A 19 year old suspect was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Arrests

A 17-year-old female was arrested for allegedly stabbing the boyfriend of a former love interest Saturday. The incident occurred at a home in the 200 block of Handley Street, where the male victim said the female suspect approached him about a female. The man showed police his hand, where he said she stabbed him with a small knife. The suspect was arrested on charges of battery due to the minor injuries reported by police.

Police arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly entered a woman’s house in the 100 block of Brookside Terrace Saturday. The victim told police that she did not know the man, who broke her window to enter her house while she was asleep. The suspect ran from the home but was located in the area shortly after the incident, according to police. He was arrested on criminal trespass and criminal damage to property charges, according to police.

Police arrested a woman who allegedly lost her temper after being denied tobacco sale at Summit, located at 208 Vernon St. The suspect was denied tobacco because she did not have identification. After some arguing, the woman pushed the cash register off the counter and stormed out of the store, the cashier said. The 21-year-old customer was charged with disorderly conduct.

Officers stopped an alleged shoplifter running from Publix, 139 Commerce Ave., Saturday afternoon. She had 23 boxes of medication, two curling irons and two DVDs from Publix, according to a report. Officers said the woman, identified as Rosa Ransom, 44, had a history of shoplifting. She was charged with felony shoplifting because it was her third offense.

Two 51 year olds were arrested on charges of DUI and obstruction, after an accident on South Greenwood Street Friday night. The driver admitted to drinking six or seven beers throughout the day and said he did not see the vehicle stop at the intersection. The driver of the other vehicle, which was hit from behind, was then determined to also be under the influence of alcohol. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and no injuries were reported, according to police.

A man was arrested on charges of DUI after police said he was seen driving without headlights on Lafayette Parkway Saturday night.
