It’s time for the rematch.

On Sunday, Monroe County handed Troup National a loss in the Dixie Youth Baseball 9-10-year-old state tournament in Wrens.

Today, the two teams will meet again, this time with a spot in the championship series on the line.

To reach the best-of-three title series that begins Friday, Troup National will have to beat Monroe, which is unbeaten in the double-elimination tournament, today and Thursday.

Since Sunday’s loss, Troup National has bounced back nicely, first with a 6-0 win over Fort Oglethorpe on Monday, and then with a 9-3 victory over Albany on Tuesday.

Troup improved to 3-1 at state, and it is 8-1 overall including the district tournament.

Against Albany, Troup got a strong pitching performance from Zach Turner, who threw five scoreless innings.

Jake Cardwell finished things up on the mound in the seventh inning.

“We had an outstanding performance by Zach Turner, and that was a key,” Troup head coach Kyle Crawford said.

Turner also had a big day at the plate with two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs.

Tripp Harris had an RBI double, and Will Alford and Wesley Marchman also had RBI hits.

Caleb McCurry also had a hit for Troup.
