Dear Editor,

I have now had the opportunity to review and become acquainted with those who are seeking the position for Troup County sheriff through the editorials written to the LaGrange Daily News the past few weeks.

All of them were interesting and informative, I was impressed with all of them. However, there was one extremely missing ingredient in each of the backgrounds of those individuals and that was a lack of experience.

Neither of them had any experience as a sheriff. Sheriff Donny Turner has been a great one also for almost 20 years. He has been there for us when we needed him the most and, as such, I feel he is the best one to continue to represent us and especially those of us who are senior citizens.

At one time or another I would feel that all citizens would desire an experienced person in this highly sensitive position. I firmly believe that most citizens feel there is no substitute for experience.

Both Sheriff Turner and his superb staff of highly trained deputies put their lives on the line many times for us citizens and we need the very best in the position of sheriff of our great Troup County and that happens to be Sheriff Donny Turner. He is a winner and winning is always better than coming in second, pursuant to a statement attributed to the great and legendary football coach Bear Bryant, of the great University of Alabama.
