Police investigate infant’s death

LaGrange Police are investigating the death of an 8-month-old child about 3 a.m. Monday.

Police said the child was unresponsive when they arrived at a home in the 100 block of Johnson Street. He was transferred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime laboratory, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Drug arrest

Police arrested a man after an investigation of illegal distribution of narcotics within the Benjamin Harvey Hill Homes.

Brandon Lashaun Huzzie, 31, was arrested after police said he sold cocaine and marijuana to undercover informants. Officers searched his residence in the 100 block of Chatham Street and found suspected cocaine and marijuana packaged for distribution.

Huzzie was charged with three counts selling cocaine, two counts of cocaine possession with intent to distribute and marijuana possession with intent to distribute.

Burglaries, theft

A LaGrange man said a thief stole four flat-screen televisions and clothes from his home in the 100 block of Cary Street. He said he returned home to find the back door of the house had been forced open, according to a police report.

A LaGrange woman said a thief stole a 60-inch flat-screen television and a computer from her home in the 1000 block of First Avenue by kicking in her bedroom door.

A LaGrange man said a thief stole a laptop from his car in the 1000 block of Lafayette Parkway.

A LaGrange man said a thief stole his 1998 GMC Sierra truck from his yard in the 100 block of village drive.

Arrests

Sandra Sims, 46, was arrested and charged with prostitution after she allegedly made an agreement with an undercover officer to exchange sexual acts for money in the 400 block of Miller Street.

Lonzell Turman Sr., 68, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Wright Street.

Police arrested a woman on a misdemeanor theft charge after allegedly stealing a couch and love seat from the thrift store in the 400 block of Whitesville Street.
