Willard Harmon Shortte

Mr. Willard Harmon Shortte, Jr., 87, of LaGrange passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Shortte was born August 18, 1925 in Schley County, Georgia, son of the late Willard Harmon Sr. and Annie Whittman Shortte. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired engineer with Milliken and Company where he had received the Innovators Hall of Fame Award. He was a member and former Post Commander of the American Legion and had served as Post Commander for the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Freeman Shortte; daughter, Sylvia Shortte Johnson; grandchildren, Jay Johnson and Ashley Adams; and four great-grandchildren, all of LaGrange; and a brother, Russell Shortte of Roanoke, VA. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Willard Shortte and sisters, Martha Boggs and Betty Royal.

Private graveside services were held at Shadowlawn Cemetery with Jack Folds officiating.
