Mr. Robert Johnson of 417 Bacon Street passed away Wednesday.
Mr. Johnson, a native of the Abbottsford Community of Troup County, was born September 14, 1926 and was the son of the late John L. and Sallie M. Askew Johnson. He joined the Wehadkee Baptist Church early in life and served faithfully as a Deacon until his health would not permit. Robert was a hardworking man who was very committed to his workplace. In his early years, he worked at Newman Construction and later with Maddox Funeral Home. He retired from Duracell in 1992.
His life will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Bessie N. Johnson; stepson, Danny Heard (Pamela), Hamden, CT; two sisters, Jessie M. Hall, East Point, GA; Ruby Bruce, LaGrange; two brothers-in-law: Ernest Nelson (June), LaGrange; John H. Nelson (Carolyne), Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Cecelia N. McCoy (Otis), Marietta, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jessie W. and Willie H. Johnson and a sister, Cora B. Strong.
The funeral service will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at 1:00PM at the Warren Temple United Methodist Church on East Depot Street. Dr. W. T. Edmondson will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at their home.
