Mr. John Thomas Davidson Sr. of West Point passed away Saturday.
Mr. Davidson, a native of West Point, was born January 27, 1921 and was the son of the late Lucille Davidson and Eddie B. Davidson and stepson of the late Lee Davidson.
He attended school at the New Harmony School and was an exceptional baseball player. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was formerly employed in the Lanett Dye Works.
Survivors include his sons: Rev. John T. Davidson Jr., Pittsburgh, PA; Wilfred L. Davidson, Lithonia, GA; brothers: Joe Lewis (Dora) Davidson, Doris (Katherine) Davidson, Virgil (Verlene) Davidson, Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Wilfred Lewis Jr., Atlanta; Tonita Lynn Davidson, Pittsburgh, PA; John Thomas III, Decatur, GA; Mia Ruth (Erik) Hines, Greensboro, NC; 2nd LT Paulette Elizabeth Davidson, Washington, DC; Amer Davidson, Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren: Amara Davidson, Washington, DC; Erik Hines II, Greensboro, NC; special nephews: David (Steve) Davidson and Virgil (Mark) Davidson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Davidson; brothers: Eddie B., James, Jason, Nathan and Tommy Davidson; and sisters: Artie Malloy and Louise Davidson.
The funeral service will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00PM at the New Harmony C.M.E. Church, Adams Road, West Point. Rev. John Pollard and Rev. John T. Davidson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will be at the home of his nephew, Mark Davidson at 69 Lower Lovelace Road in the New Harmony Community and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8.
