The second annual “Tunes for Tots” concert will kick off at 6 p.m. tonight at Legends Tavern inside the Best Western Lafayette Parkway.

Five bands, including the headliner Hired Guns will perform at the event, which benefits Toys for Tots.

Other bands are Into the Further, Smokey Road, Dead River Hollow Sky and Lights Out.

The event was created last year by Andy Burke, a local musician, said David Beard, a member of Into the Further.

“He really sees this as a way to give back,” Beard said.

Last year’s concert, held at the former Lazy Peach, raised more than $1,000 for Toys for Tots and was one of the largest contributors to the local toy campaign.

The Marine Corps League sponsors the toy drive each year, which helps organizations provide toys for needy children.

“This helps give attention to local bands and it also is a great cause,” Beard said.

Admission to the concert is a new, unwrapped toy or $10.
